NordVPN
With the VPN space being as crowded as it is, you would think it would take a lot for one VPN to stand out amongst the rest. Not so for NordVPN. This is a VPN provider that is not only secure but focuses on giving its clients the fastest speeds possible. And they have come a long way in other to achieve this.
NordVPN was born in 2012 when four childhood friends came together to build technology that could liberate the internet. Spending a lot of time in different parts of the world they saw internet censorship, content control and intrusive government surveillance growing faster than ever before. The feeling that the internet was losing its main purpose led to a search for possible solutions on how to overcome all the restrictions.

Pros
Cons
- Some servers don’t work in China
- Streaming doesn’t work on Amazon firestick
- Support is not among the best
Security and Technology
You always want your VPN to be up-to-date with its technology and security features. With NordVPN that’s not something you have to worry about. With support for multiple security protocols, you have the freedom to select how you would like to connect. You get access to over 5,000 servers in 62 countries The only wrinkle in the service is the recent data breach they had and did not disclose immediately. NordVPN also scores well here for its strong IKev2/IPsec support
Speed and Latency:
By far one of the fastest VPNs out there. NordVPN gives what most others can’t. This is a less than 5% performance drop when connected to their servers. The same goes for the latency. Here is where NordVPN is a heavyweight. Take note, it isn’t the fastest VPN we have tested but close. Sadly this is not uniform across all its locations. For Netflix fans and gamers this should not pose an issue. But certain locations do experience less than ideal speeds overall.
Support and Logging
Good support would in most cases solve a lot of problems. NordVPN has ok support. Not great support, just OK. It’s like we don’t really have anything to complain about but they won’t be winning any awards. They do however compliment their support with lots of tutorials and guides. So in most cases, you can quickly get what you need from those. Also with a strong user base and community finding assistance isn’t an issue.
Streaming and Geo Restriction
What good would a VPN be if we could not stream Netflix like a boss? Here we find NordVPN doing its job quietly and very effectively. But they go a step further by providing obfuscated servers that allow you to be safe even in countries where using a VPN isn’t allowed. So if you need to get around local censorship, NordVPN is a good choice
Pricing
We are not going to ask you to run out and buy NordVPN because it has great pricing. Quite frankly it doesn’t. It’s not as bad as some but not great either. Its 3-year plan comes in at $3.49 per month, a yearly subscription will cost you $6.99 per month and if you only wish to pay for a month of service, this comes to $11.95 per month. You do not get any trial period but there is a 30day money-back guarantee.
So Is It Worth It?
This depends on what kind of a user you are. Suck behind tight censorship or just want to watch non-local content without out geo-restrictions but not give up on speed and latency. Then NordVPN would be perfect for you. We would like them to be more forthcoming with issues in the future but overall its still a good choice.
